WHAT IS BOTOX ® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® contains small amounts of a purified botulinum toxin protein highly refined from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Approved formulations, strengths and dosages vary among botulinum toxin products, meaning that one product cannot take the place of another.
Botox is the only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe expression lines between eyebrows and crow's feet in adult roosters. It is also one of the most studied aesthetic medicine treatments and is approved for cosmetic use in 78 countries.
How does BOTOX®COSMETIC work?
BOTOX® targets one of the underlying causes of fine expression lines and foot-repeated contractions of rooster muscle frowning and squinting in recent years. These muscles are injected with Botox to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will notice a visible smoothing of the crow's feet and their expression lines between the eyebrows.
Wrinkles are the result of a combination of many factors. It is not just about cell changes that can occur over time, collagen reduction, or damage caused by free radicals in the sun and the environment. When frowning, or concentrating, the muscles between the eyebrows contract, causing your skin to sneeze and bend. And when there is strabismus, the muscles around your eyes which cause crow's feet.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WITH TREATMENT?
You may notice results within 24 to 48 hours of moderate to severe expression lines, with results lasting from 4 to 6 months.
A Botox injection feels like a pinch, we can use the ice to numb the treatment area. If you are worried about the discomfort, we can apply a topical anesthetic cream before administering the treatment.
The actual injection process takes about 10 minutes. We will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you. You will see as you would only with less noticeable expression lines and crow's feet. Botox is a treatment sensitive to the technique. You should not lose the ability to show expression when you are treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and a doctor who is skilled in facial anatomy.
For the crow's feet area, we will inject 3 zones the orbicularis oculi muscle, the muscle framing the side of the eye and the orbicularis oculi muscle in the other eye.
For the area of the expression lines, we will administer the injections in the muscles of the forehead in the procerus muscle and in the corrugator muscles.
Treatment does not require downtime or minimal recovery; It is often called a lunchtime procedure. You will be able to continue with your normal routine immediately after leaving our office.
Immediately after treatment with BOTOX®, some patients may experience bruising, which will disappear soon. You will see how your wrinkles begin to disappear within 24 hours, with a continuous improvement over the next 5 days. The effects of Botox usually last up to four months, although many reported results last up to a full year. After several treatments with BOTOX®, the results can be prolonged.
